This week has been absolutely amazing!! I have been doing so well on my own in Stockholm because I would definitely say I am someone who is more independent; however, being able to spend time with my parents has been so refreshing. My parents arrived this past Monday and will be spending about a whole week and a half with me! As a student studying abroad in Europe for the first time, I highly recommend having family members or friends come out to visit you at some point during your time abroad! It is very exciting to show the people you love where you are living and how you are doing. It is also a good idea simply because it provides you with a sense of comfort as well during times that can be very stressful 🙂
Since my parents have been here, we have done so many things together! I recently took them to the Royal Palace, where we explored the inside of the castle in Stockholm, and it was absolutely beautiful. There were many sculptures and historical artifacts on the inside that we got to see, and it was so fascinating. After the Royal Palace, I then took my parents to Old Town, which is the heart of Stockholm. They absolutely loved this part of Sweden simply because it reminded them of a small village with many shops. We explored this area for some time and simply walked around enjoying each others company. The last thing we did that day was go to the ABBA Museum!! My mother has been a fan of them for her whole life, and seeing her so happy was beyond worth it!! I am happy she was able to experience something she has been talking about for a while 🙂 Here are a few pictures of our adventures in Stockholm!
Living in Stockholm is absolutely amazing; however, as a student, it is easy to get comfortable here without really exploring the area. Having my family here has been a great opportunity to explore Stockholm a bit more and really get to know the place I am living in. I highly recommend exploring the area simply because there are so many amazing sights to see like the pictures below 🙂
My parents and I also went to many churches as well so that my mother could light a few candles. This is somewhat of a tradition that we have and it has a very special place in our heart. I am happy that I am able to share these moments with her and my father ❤ This past evening, I also took my parents to go meet my visiting host family, and WOWWWW this was hands down one of the best nights I have had here so far. Being with their family truly feels like home, and I am so grateful they were able to meet my parents.
I am a very independent individual, but having family in Sweden with me has really made me so happy. Being able to spend some time with them has felt beyond comforting and although I will be sad when they leave here, It makes me excited to know that I will be seeing them again soon 🙂
Until Next Week!!
